Activities in brief
The
project
GEONATURA
has
four
planned
blended
learning
mobilities
(BLM)
and
each
of
them
will
consist
into
a
cycle
of
three
rounds
of
learning
activities
by
higher
education
students.
Each
candidate
student
of
higher
education
from
partner
countries
of
the
consortium
can
choose
to
participate
in
only
one
of
the
planned
cycles
of
BLM.
The
consortium
plans
to
benefit
40
students
of
partner
countries
in
each
cycle
of
BLM.
Partner
countries
of
consortium
are:
Portugal,
Italy,
United Kingdom and the Netherlands
.
The
first
round
(preliminary)
is
a
selective
round
for
candidate
students
without
a
background
in
geomatics
in
which
it
will
be
offered
simultaneously
an
in-class
intensive
introductory
course
on
Geographic
Information
System
(
module
0
)
during
one
week
in
the
premises
of
each
of
the
partner
universities
of
the
consortium.
Only
lecturers
from
the
hosting
university
will be teaching in this preliminary round.
The
second
round
(
joint
in-class
intensive
course
programme
)
will
be
provided
to
40
selected
students
of
all
partner
countries
with
best
performance
from
first
round
and
those
selected
students
with
proven
previous
background
in
geomatics.
It
will
be
delivered
during
one
week
in
8
modules
by
lecturers
of
partner
universities
in
different
periods
as
presented
in
the
section
Deliverables
.
In
this
round,
selected
students
and
invited
lecturers
will
meet
at
one
of
partner
universities (the hosting institution of that round).
The
third
round
(online
courses)
will
be
undertaken
during
sequential
2
months
through
the
Open
Educational
Resources
(OER)
platform
that
will
be
created
and
maintained
by
staff
of
GEONATURA
project.
Students
will
be
provided
with
additional
educational
content,
case
studies
and
exercises
related
to
4
expanded
modules
among
those
8
modules
addressed
during
the
second
round.
These
expanded
modules
will
provide
deeper
knowledge
and
additional
skills
to
themes
according
to
the
professional
career
prospects
sought
by
students.
The
staff
of
partner
universities
designated
to
second
round
will
actively
participate
in
the
engagement
of
students
through
the
OER
platform.
The
OER
platform
will
also
contain
additional
educational
resources
to
serve
as
supporting
material
and
inspiration
for
future
career
prospects
in
the
field
of
geomatics.

Note:
Selected
students
for
round
1
to

3

regular
support
from
lecturers

universities

platform.
They
will
be given exercises and will be evaluated by lecturers.
Students
who
will
accomplish
successfully
all
rounds
of
the
BLM
cycle
will
be
awarded
with
certificate
and
ECTS
credits
as
well
as
recommendation
letters
upon
request
for
seeking
their
career
prospects in the field of geomatics.
Students
who
will
not
take
part
in
round
1
and
round
2
will
still
have
access
to
a
wide
range
of
educational
resources
and
references
through
the
OER
platform
that
will
motivate,
inspire
and
provide
knowledge
on
various
topics
of
environmental
geomatics
but
without
the
regular
support
of
the
designated
lecturers
of
GEONATURA
project.
The Preliminary round of GEONATURA cycles
The
preliminary
round
(round
1)
of
each
cycle
of
GEONATURA
BLM
scheme
will
have
a
similar
programme
to
be
accomplished
by
candidate
higher
education
students
in
each
hosting
partner
university.
This
introductory
course
on
geomatics
is
named
Geographic Information Systems: from data to decision making
.
Duration
:
30
hours
distributed
in
5
days
to
be
offered
simultaneously in each partner university
.
Objectives
The
purpose
of
this
course
is
to
provide
students
with
an
overview
of
geographic
information
systems
(GIS)
and
their
applications
in
socio-
environmental
issues.
The
sectors
of
society
benefiting
from
the
use
of
GIS
and
potential
career
opportunities
will
be
addressed.
A
practical
introduction
to
GIS
principles,
methods
and
techniques
will
be
provided.
The
practical
component
of
the
course
is
based
on
ArcGIS
ESRI
software.
At
the
end
of
the
course,
participants
should
be
able
to
acquire
data,
model,
analyze
and
develop
a
GIS
application
in
the context of socio-environmental problems.

Students
who
would

apply
for
one
cycle
of
GEONATURA
BLM
scheme
are
welcomed
to
contact
the
coordinator
of
the
partner
university
of
their
country
as
specified
in
the
contact

and
submit
their
registration
form
filled
out
by
e-mail
as
available
in
the
section

Who
can
participate:
any
student
currently
enrolled
in
an
university
programme
of
economics,
engineering,
information
technology
and
management,
business
administration,
chemistry
or
physics
in
one
of
the partner countries of GEONATURA consortium.
In
case
a
student
will
miss
the
deadline
for
application
to
one
cycle
of
BLM
scheme
it
will
be
possible
to
apply
for
the
next
cycle.
Therefore
we
recommend
candidate
students
to
visit
our
website
regularly
or
register
to
our
newsletters
to
receive
updates
on
the
calls
for
applicant for new cycles.
Multiplier events
Every
second
round
of
a
BLM
cycle
of
GEONATURA
will
be
followed
by
a
conference
opened
to
various
groups
of
stakeholders
(entrepreneurs,
policy-makers,
representatives
of
civil
society,
academics,
students,
among
others)
in
which
the
staff
of
partner
universities
involved
in
GEONATURA
project
will
present
the
main
components
and
features
of
the
OER
platform
and
the
main
features
of the networking platform (extranet) for stakeholders.
The
main
benefits
will
be
presented
for
each
group
of
stakeholder
with
a
tutorial
on
how
to
take
advantage
of
the
OER
platform
and
its
content for their own projects.
Therefore,
there
are
four
planned
conferences
opened
for
stakeholders
for
dissemination
of
results
and
intellectual
outputs
of
GEONATURA
project
being
each
of
them
in
a
different
partner
country.
